Custom GPTs: Make AI Work For You
Hey there! 👋
How’s everyone doing today?
This week, let’s discuss how to build a custom chatbot, dive into the depths of ChatGPT's advanced features, and master the art of leveraging AI to your advantage.
CHATGPT AND CUSTOMGPTs: EVERYTHING YOU SHOULD KNOW
Today, we’re going to discuss 3 things:
The foundational knowledge you need to know about ChatGPT
How to create a CustomGPT (plus tips!), and a
Few great CustomGPT examples.

Think of CustomGPT as building a house. You gotta arrange the bricks first, right? The same goes for getting a hang of ChatGPT before having it act and work exactly as you want it to.
It's like getting the lowdown on your chatbot's powers and limitations. So, when you customize your own GPT, mold and polish it so it aligns with your objectives.
HERE IS OUR 5-STEP PROCESS TO DESIGN POWERFUL CHATGPT PROMPTS
1. Set ChatGPT’s Role: It’s not enough to tell ChatGPT it’s supposed to do something. Be more specific and tell it how.
Suppose you want to create a chatbot that explains marketing concepts to fresh graduates like an approachable teacher. Instead of writing, “Explain marketing concepts like a marketing professor,”
Write:
“Explain marketing concepts like an experienced (your profession, for ex. a marketing professor) in a friendly, conversational tone, focusing on actionable tips rather than just information.”
The latter will help the chatbot provide more suitable results to fresh graduates in line with your goal.
2. Give Context: Provide background details that enable ChatGPT to understand your situation or setting. In the case of the marketing professor, you could write:
“Act as a marketing professor who has experience running Facebook ad campaigns with a budget of $1000+.”
3. State The Task/Question: Give ChatGPT a clear target. For example, write:
“Explain every marketing concept using 1 engaging short story, 1 definition, and 1 example,” instead of writing, “Explain every marketing concept engagingly.”
4. Set Constraints/Limitations: This means setting limits in terms of the output ChatGPT is expected to provide. It could also mean setting character, language, or word limits. For example, write:
“Explain marketing concepts in an engaging storytelling style within 280 characters.”
5. Offer Additional Support: Provide instructions on style or formatting to refine ChatGPT’s output. For example, write:
“Use bullet points to explain marketing concepts engagingly” instead of “Explain marketing concepts engagingly.”
“If you can break it (input in AI tools) down into tasks and ask the model to help with each task and subtask, people often find very good results across a wide variety of areas.”
Now that you have the process with you, go ahead and explore how ChatGPT, the fastest-growing consumer Internet app of all time, can be your ally in streamlining your tasks. With over 100 million weekly users in less than a year, it's not just about staying up-to-date. Rather, it's about creating more space in your life for what truly matters to you.
P.S. If ChatGPT doesn’t “get” what you want in one go, feed it examples or add details to prompts. Remember, ChatGPT can’t do complete jobs, and an overload of information may be confusing for it. Give it time.
Alright, buckle up! Let's take things up a notch and talk about how you can create a CustomGPT.

Does the process of creating a CustomGPT seem daunting? Don’t worry-I’ve broken it down for you.
Note: You MUST have a ChatPlus or Enterprise subscription to create a CustomGPT.
1. Initiate The Process: Search for the “Explore” tab in your ChatGPT Plus Interface. Click on the “+” sign and choose a domain/use case for your GPT.
2. Configure And Add Custom/Specialized Instructions: Use the “Configure” tab to give your CustomGPT a name and logo. In the custom instructions box, add instructions up to 8000 characters. Examples of custom instructions include simplifying concepts and elaborating on real-life applications of concepts.
3. Use Clarifying Questions: After you’ve added your custom instructions, ask ChatGPT to ask any clarifying questions that can help it better respond to input.
4. Update ChatGPT’s Knowledge Base: Currently, you can upload up to 10 documents up to 100,000 words each. Based on them, ChatGPT can extract responses to prompts.
5. Utilise Conversation Starters: Select conversation starters as sample prompts users can use to obtain responses.
TIPS:
Search for new CustomGPT features that may enhance your chatbot’s functionality.
Analyze CustomGPTs made by others, their knowledge base, and custom instructions to improve yours. Head over to the GPT Store to discover GPTs. In the coming months, it is expected that CustomGPT creators will be able to earn revenue based on their GPTs.
Use websites like Kaggle.com to access public databases if you don’t have your own.
Consider creating learning experiences like quizzes to engage users through your CustomGPT.
Motivate models like ChatGPT to perform their best, just like you’d encourage a human! Research by Cornell University shows that models like GPT-4 can be improved through positive appeals combined with psychological theories. Use phrases like “You can do it.”
Speaking of CustomGPTs, we’ve created a list of a few you can check out. It’s time to get inspired.

In a world where ChatGPT and CustomGPTs are now becoming common, what can you do? Be the glitch, my friends!
HOW TO BE A GLITCH
🔥 Ensure Your CustomGPT Is Unique: Always have a differentiating factor. Maybe your CustomGPT has knowledge no one else has. Maybe it has been given unique instructions. Remember, uniqueness will set you apart.
🔥 Know When To Create A CustomGPT: Don’t create a CustomGPT for the sake of it. It takes time to enter information, knowledge, and prompts. If an existing AI tool helps achieve your objectives, that’s enough.
🔥 Don’t Forget About Feedback: Creating a CustomGPT is cool, but so is improving it. Ask users for feedback to make necessary improvements. Don’t think of a CustomGPT as a one-time task.
